Binar has been running a culturally secure basketball club for over 10 years now, but only began offering netball in 2021. We enrolled 16 teams (178 players aged 5 to 25 years old) at the Swan Districts Netball Association (SDNA) in the Winter season. This made us the second largest club at SDNA in just our first year! In addition, three of our teams made the grand final and two of them won.

This is exceptional because many of our players face significant barriers to participation including lack of transport to training/events and financial hardship. Binar removes these barriers by:

  • Eliminating a Binar Netball Club fee.

  • Covering the costs of the Binar netball program (court hire for training, netballs, kit bags, team bibs, umpiring, trophies, windup event, etc.)

  • Aassisting players to access KidSport grants from the WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to cover Netball Australia (NA), Netball WA (NWA) and SDNA player fees.

  • Direct financial support for each child in a family that needs it for registration fees and uniforms, etc.
