Binar is not just a basketball club. We aim to help our players and community fulfil their potential in all areas of their lives including academic pursuits. We believe that education is the key to opportunity. Our homework classes started after identifying that our students are not always comfortable raising their hand and asking questions in their school environment.

These classes grew from a handful of adult volunteers helping out at Adam's house to involving specialised tutors from Hands Up Literacy & Numeracy where children can receive individualised attention, assessment of learning difficulties,  help with homework and gain confidence in their own abilities. We also now include art and cultural activities.

The classes run during school terms:

Monday's 6 - 7pm

Hands Up Literacy & Numeracy - 13 The Crescent, Midland

Tuesday's 4 - 7pm

Youth Futures Community School - 1 Cale St, Midland

You must register on the link below as we have a limited number of places and tutors.

  • Students are expected to attend all sessions and provide notice if unwell or otherwise unable to attend.

  • We expect respect, open communication and a commitment to learning.

  • All members will have to read and sign the Code of Conduct form agreeing to uphold the values of Binar. Breaches of the code will be taken seriously and may result in suspension or expulsion from the program.

Our Values

  • Respect for Yourself and Others

We have built a solid reputation by treating others with respect and embodying our values.

  • Resilience

Binar members are resilient in all aspects of life. We power through adversity, ask for help when we need it, and look after one another. We are stronger together.

  • Culture

Representing Binar carries the privilege and responsibility of honouring the culture that our first team created for all other members, and of honouring our own culture.

  • Connection

Binar allows Aboriginal youths to connect to Mob. We also allow the Binar family to form a connection regardless of background. We are inclusive and care for one another.
